Is Cherry Blossom Perfume a Lie?

Cherry blossom flowers actually have a surprisingly faint scent! You have to stand under a tree in full bloom to bask in the aroma, or better yet, an entire grove! 

When perfumers want to create a cherry blossom perfume, they usually end up creating a "fantasy". They blend the cherry blossom with white florals like jasmine, sweet florals like mimosa, and then add fruit notes like sweet pear. To balance the sweetness, a woodsy scent like sandalwood is usually added as a base note.

There are a lot of places in the US where we can go to enjoy cherry blossom festivals, though. Including, strangely enough, Macon, Georgia. Who would have thought? Every spring there is a huge international cherry blossom festival there, featuring the city's over 300,000 cherry blossom trees! I've added this event to my bucket list, how about you?
