How to Make Your Perfume Oils Last All Day

How do you make your perfume oil last longer?

Wearing perfume oils is a luxurious way to enjoy fragrance, and when used right, they can make your scent last all throughout the day. But how do you make your perfume oils last longer, so you can smell great all day?

Let’s talk about a few delightful ways to maximize your fragrance oil's lasting power, so you can keep your favorite aroma wherever you go.

Tip #1 - Clean Skin

Start with your skin—clean and hydrated skin acts as the perfect base for perfume oils. That means the best time to apply your perfume oils is after your shower. Once you're clean and dry, hydrate with your favorite moisturizing lotion. If you desire, you can pick a scented lotion that compliments your perfume plan for the day. After applying lotion, now we can apply our best perfume oil.

Tip #2 - Pulse Points

Think of your pulse points as your fragrance’s best friends: the wrists, behind your ears, at the base of your throat, and even the back of your knees. These warm spots where you can feel a pulse naturally diffuse the scent, releasing it gently over time.

But how do you apply perfume oil? Simply dab a small amount of perfume oil to these areas and let it sink in for a moment. You can also rub it in with your wrists so it absorbs more thoroughly. Don't worry, you won't ruin the fragrance by doing this!

A few extra spots you can try if you are adventurous are the collarbone and the center of your chest. Don't be afraid to apply it where your clothes may cover the scent! Your clothes will actually help your fragrance last longer by holding onto the scent and wafting it around as you move.

Tip #3 - Layering

Layering your perfume oils is another secret to long-lasting fragrance. Pair your perfume oil with a complementary spray perfume for an amplified and complex aroma.

For example, you can layer our Vanilla perfume oil with a gourmand or floral perfume spray for a delightful combination. The perfume oil creates a solid fragrance base that increases the longevity of your scent. Meanwhile, the spray adds a finishing flourish, ensuring your scent blooms beautifully and projects further. This combination not only boosts longevity and projection, but also deepens the fragrance's profile.

Tip #4 - Customize your scent

Mixing and matching the fragrances in your lotion, perfume oil, and perfume spray is a great way to create custom scent profiles or your signature scent. You can create combinations that are entirely unique.

If you like gourmand perfume oils, you can stack that with a foodie fragrance lotion, and then finish with a gourmand perfume spray. Choose scents that have a similar profile, like all bakery scents. Other examples are to choose all vanilla notes, or all berry fragrances. You'll get a magnificently layered and complex fragrance experience. This is how you really make your perfume oil last all day!

Tip #5 - Scent for your hair

Don’t forget your hair! It’s a fantastic carrier for fragrance, holding onto the scent much longer than your skin can.

Dab a little perfume oil onto your fingertips and gently work it into the ends of your hair, or even better, onto your brush before styling. The natural movement of your hair will release the scent as you move, creating a subtle aura that accompanies you with every step.

Perfume oils are personal, intimate, and luxurious. Unlike perfume sprays, they tend to create a smaller, more intimate personal bubble of fragrance. They don't project as much, but they tend to last longer because they are more concentrated than perfume sprays. They are an excellent addition to your fragrance routine.

When you wear these perfume oils with intention and care, they become a signature of your presence. Have fun experimenting with these perfume oil tips and finding the routine that makes you feel most radiant and fragrant.
